Nana's Cinnamon Tea

We all know how important it is to get enough fluids in our system on a daily basis, especially water.  If you are like me, the thought of 64 oz of plain water is not very exciting.  Because of this, I wanted to find an easy way to make sure I was consuming enough water each day.  I decided I needed a flavored water if I wanted to drink more of it.  Since I try to stay away from artificial sweeteners, those water flavor packets were out of the question.  I then thought of "Cinnamon Tea", a tea my Nana would make me when I was younger.  Obviously, I wasn't going to be walking around with a hot drink in hand every day, so I wondered how it would taste iced.  My thought process was - not only would I be consuming more water, but I would be getting the benefits of cinnamon, too!  If you aren't aware, cinnamon is a great tool to boost  your immunity, as well as your metabolism.  The best thing about this recipe is it only requires 2-3 ingredients!

"Nana's Cinnamon Tea" Recipe

Ingredients:
(2) Organic Cinnamon Sticks
Local Organic Honey (Optional)
Water

Directions:
  1. Bring a few cups of water to just below boiling temperature and turn off the heat.
  2. Drop in two long cinnamon sticks and cover with a lid.  (Since I always try to shop local, I purchase my organic sticks from Clark's Nutrition & Natural Foods Market, located in Riverside).
  3. Let the sticks sit for about an hour.  (If you wish to sweeten the tea, use local organic honey.  You will need to add the honey while the water is still warm).
  4. Once cooled, place the water in a 2 liter pitcher and fill to the top with cold water.
  5. Serve over ice or take on the go by filling up your Eco-friendly water bottle.

Congratulations, you now have cinnamon tea!  Once the tea is chilled, it is absolutely delicious. I hope you enjoy my Nana's Cinnamon Tea Recipe.  If you do make some, please leave a comment and let me know how your tea turned out.

The "Canela' also has a wonderful aroma. When my daughters visit and the tea is brewing, they will remember Nana Pauline, and Christmas.
