Oribe has impressed me yet again. They recently released Power Drops. These are intensely reparative drops with linoleic acid, biotin and sea kelp extract, and can correct damaged hair. Strands are fortified and rebuilt. This serum can be used alone or added to another Oribe product. My favorite way to use this serum is to add it to Balm d'Or. Balm d'or is a also a light weight styler that provides heat protection to fragile and damaged hair. With heat-activated polymer technology, even with styling tools, hair is in great condition after it is used. Using the two products together leaves hair sleek and shiny hair. How well does it really work, you may ask? Well, my hair has been bleached 3 times and it still feels healthy and smooth. To purchase either of these amazing products, please click the links below. |

Every so often a styling line breaks the mold and shakes the hair industry. 10 years ago Oribe Canales did just that with the release of his signature line. Taking in over 30 years of experience and countless hours of perfecting his craft, Oribe released a line. Not just a styling line, but one that used premium ingredients that made for exceptional results. I have been lucky enough to have been using the line for over 8 years. I love where the line has come from and I can not wait to see what the future holds for this luxury experience. To celebrate Oribe's 10th anniversary, I thought I would share with you my top 10 Oribe products. 1/2 Shampoo and Conditioner for Moisture and Control. An essential for curly hair. 3 Swept Up Volume Powder Spray. Use at the roots to create envious volume. 4/5 Gold Lust Shampoo and Conditioner. This is the go to if you want to repair tired, damaged hair. 6 Signature Shampoo. A favorite for all hair types. 7 Rough Luxury Molding Wax. Many men swear by this wax. 8 Superfine Hair Spray. Tames and styles effortlessly. 9 Run Through Detangling Primer. A leave in that provides heat protection and slip with almost no weight. 10. Dry Texturizing Spray. This has a cult following unseen by any other luxury brand. To purchase these or any of my other ORIBE favorites on Amazon, please click here. Now when I first heard about this product I have to admit I was a bit hesitant. The first thing I think of when I hear spray gel is something that I used to use in middle school. Yes, I used product in middle school. That alone should have been an indicator that I would be a product junkie. If you know me, I love a product that can be used on more than one hair type and that can also help create more than just one look. Like always R+Co exceeded my expectations. The first time I used it was on myself. Being I have wavy, almost curly hair, I like to see what a product does in my hair if I apply it to wet hair and let it air dry. I was impressed that I had hold in my hair, but none of the tackiness that I was sort of expecting. Once it was dry, I was able run my fingers through my hair without it getting stuck. A few days later I tried it before blow drying a clients hair. She had finer blonde hair - the exact opposite of mine, so I wanted to see the difference. I have to be honest, I probably over sprayed her hair. But, I brushed the product through the hair thoroughly before I sectioned her out and styled her. I was so excited when I saw how much bounce my client had. So now I am really into FREEWAY at this point. A few days later, I had a client that had curly, medium almost fine hair. Well, here I was again going for the FREEWAY to see what it could do. Like before, I was impressed with how the hair looked after the blowout. The hair was smooth, yet had a controlled lift to it. I am pretty much a fan of a product that can be used on various hair textures and for various end results. R+Co again produced a vegan product, at a great price point, that really did what it said it would do. If you have tried it, please comment with your experience below. Lately there's been a lot of talk about a new wonder product in the beauty industry. It is called Olaplex. Even though I had seen results from other stylists using it, I had to see for myself. First off let me explain what Olaplex is. This treatment goes inside the hair and restructures broken down disulfide bonds. These bonds are broken by coloring, styling tools and brushing. When these bonds are broken, hair feels weak and lacks a consistent texture. I decided to do an Olaplex treatment on a few different hair types just to see what it would do. I don't think I need to say much more, as the pics show what just ONE treatment can do. Please note - After the treatments, no styling products were added to the hair. I lightly used Foundation Mist from Oribe before blowing out the hair. On the one I left curly, you can see how the hair is less frizzy and the curls are more consistent root to ends. I am now using Olaplex on a regular basis. I have been thrilled with the results and don't remember the last time a new product made me feel this way. If your hair needs some TLC, this treatment might be what you need. The great thing is that you, the client, can keep up these benefits with a take home version of the product.
More often than not my fine haired clients fear conditioner or deep treatments. I understand. You want soft hair, but wonder if it is worth potentially not having volume or your hair not holding a curl? How can you get the benefits of healthy hair without it being too weighed down? Condition before you wash. Yes, I just said that. If you know you are going to wash your hair in the morning, condition the ends the night before. Certain hair types will benefit from using either a conditioner or a hair oil alone, while others will see drastic improvements from using both. One of the great benefits of the newer hair oils is that they are internally repairing. They are no longer just "topical treatments". Putting oil in your hair the night before a wash gives the oil time to do its job and the hair a chance to absorb what it can. All you need is a few pumps and it only needs to be applied to the ends of your hair. Clip your hair up and be sure to wear a shower cap or use an old pillowcase when you are ready to sleep. When you wash your hair the next morning, wash only the roots; the shampoo will wash off any excess product that the hair could not take in. This will give you soft, manageable hair without worrying about the extra oils weighing the hair down. Over time, you will find that your hair will be stronger, have more bounce and movement and your hair will look and feel healthier than ever. We carry a variety of conditioners and oils to aid you in your quest for softer, healthier looking hair. Recommended Products Click on the specific image to purchase any of these products via Amazon. DirectionsFor finer hair types I strongly recommend using conditioner plus a couple of drops of oil.
For medium to coarse hair types, I suggest using the oil by itself. If you are not sure what hair regimen would be best for you, feel free to message me or stop by the salon. I would love to answer any of your questions. Products Used

Even as a stylist I get bored with hair. No, not my clients’ hair, my own. I ask myself all types of questions? What do I do now? Do I grow it out? Do I shave it again? Do I go brown with some highlights? How about a keratin treatment? The list goes on and on… A few months back, I noticed a friend and fellow stylist, Heidi Garrett (IG Heidimariegarrett), was going a bit crazy with her hair color. Uh, Hello! Before and after, anyone? Now, everyone has a different version of “crazy”. I mean, you have to remember - she is a stylist, so “crazy” could be her norm. Right?? Not even close. Let me explain - She is like me: pretty “vanilla” in terms of changing her hair color. Yeah, I would rock different lengths, but my color pretty much stayed the same. I had briefly chatted with her about trying out a new color on myself and she was game, but I was still hesitant. What color would I really do? Pink? Purple? Red? Could I pull it off? I had always been a brown, or when I got real crazy, a lighter brown. (Watch out now!!) Heidi had been working on some projects out of the country, so I didn't feel the pressure to make up my mind, just yet. After her return, I asked her again about doing my hair. She informed me she was working on turning her focus toward special events and not being behind the chair as much. I understood completely. You see, sometimes in our field, you have to refocus. However, since she and I had talked about my “big hair change” for so long, I had it set in my mind that if and when it happened, she would be the one doing it. Well, last week I hit her up, just to talk shop. After all, Heidi is one of those people who is always happy to talk shop and exchange ideas. During the conversation, I brought up doing my color. She said she would go ahead and do it, as this would give us some time to really talk and catch up. She also informed me that she wanted to do blue (!!), something I had momentarily brought up before, but was reluctant to pursue. I semi-enthusiastically agreed. I figured, I might as well.... So, we met up and got right down to business. Heidi bleached out my hair, gave me a nice dark false root and stunning blue hair on top. Guess what?! I LOVE IT! Though I am pretty reserved concerning my hair, I don't feel like I went overboard at all. The reality of it is - it is just hair and I can change it over and over again, anytime I desire. If you have been wanting to do something fresh and new, but have been afraid to, my advice is to just go for it! What is the worst thing that can happen? You don’t love it and you change it back. What do you guys think? Do you need a change? What are you waiting for? Get in my chair! Call or book online today!
Earlier this week, I took a class on Balayage using Solaris Clay Bleach, a specialty hair product from France. Balayage is a customized hair painting technique that guarantees each and every client a one of a kind look. The end result is the client's hair has a naturally highlighted look, ensuring a seamless grow out. The process takes a bit longer than traditional foil highlights, but the extra time is well worth the wait. The end results are AMAZING. For more information on Balayage, check out this article from Vogue Australia.
